Product Details
This is an exceptional piece of Mozambique Paraiba tourmaline. The tourmaline has excellent super NEON blue/green color, oval brilliant faceting and weighs a substantial 10.43 carats. No longer producing gem quality material the Mozambique mine is depleted. All stones of gem quality are considered rare and the larger they are the more prized and rare they become. This large Paraiba measures 13.74 X 10.13 X 9.82 mm and is prong set amidst a swirl of pave set diamonds. Considered world class for its color saturation and tone this Paraiba lights up the room. Of note is the stone’s clarity which is not eye-clean. There are a number of rutile copper needles (that carry the prized copper and manganese chemicals found in Paraiba). The vast majority of the needles cannot be seen by the naked eye but one area joins a feather like inclusion and this can be seen from a lower side angle. I have enlarged a photo of this inclusion which is in the lower bottom right quadrant. This inclusion is not readily noticeable and does not distract from the overall appearance of the stone. Out in the bright light the stone’s brilliance masks this area. Surrounding the tourmaline are pave set round brilliant diamonds that appear in a braid like fashion and outline the oval tourmaline. In total there is 0.55 carats total weight in diamonds that are SI1 clarity and GH color. The pendant weighs over 4.0 grams of 14KWG and is 30.08 X 20.03 mm or a bit over 1″ by 3/4″. The stone is certified with a detailed report from the Gemological Institute of Thailand. This certificate will be provided at the point of sale. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
