Product Details

I have always loved the neon Australian blue and green opal color.  This pendant displays fine quality Australian opal inlay with is a vanishing art in the jewelry industry.  To correctly set inlay opal the jeweler must use a considerable amount of metal, in this case 14K yellow gold, so that the opal is surrounded by enough metal on the sides and underneath to protect it.  Otherwise the opal will chip, crack and eventually fall out (this is often the quality found on cruise ships and Caribbean islands).  This pendant weighs a very substantial 7.6 grams and was created by a jeweler in Philadelphia who is one of few left in the industry that does high quality work.  Included in the pendant is a 6.0 mm tanzanite that displays a beautiful periwinkle color with both blue and purple hues with blue being the dominant color.  The tanzanite is round brilliant cut, has excellent near loupe clean clarity and spectacular blue and purple brilliance.  The tanzanite weighs 0.88 carats and joins 17 diamonds or 0.38 ctw in diamonds that are channel set, taper in size from 1.2-.0 mm and are SI1 HI color.  The pendant has a large back opening that will accommodate a wide array of chains and clasps and it measures 25 X 15 mm or 1″ by 1/2″. This pendant would be best worn on a diamond riviera necklace, omega chain, thick chain or pearls.
